Iran may buy 3 mio tons of Russian wheat

The United Grain Company has signed the first contract with Iran on deliveries of Russian wheat: plans call for delivering 130K tons of grain before the end of January 2020.

In all, 300K tons of wheat should be delivered for a total of $65 mio. Before the end of March, Iran may purchase 3 mio tons of wheat, but traders are doubtful about sending the crops there due to payment complications and the risk of sanctions. The United Grain Company (the state owns 50+1 shares, the rest is owned by VTB) is preparing to send the first bulk carrier with 60K tons of Russian wheat from Novorossiysk to Iran. A foreign company that can trade with Iran acts as an intermediary.

Iran has been purchasing corn and barley from Russia.
