Moscow gets 450 new business people every day

Moscow currently has 751K small and medium-sized businesses, and 450 new business people emerge every day, according to Alexei Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development, who spoke during the Entrepreneur Hour at the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“In Russia, one in every four people is involved in small and medium-sized businesses. Overall, there are 19.4 mio entrepreneurs in the country. These are 5.92 mio companies that can be classified as SMEs. In Moscow it is one in every three people, or roughly 2.6 mio. The capital has a total of 751K SMEs, which accounts for 12.68% of Russia’s total number,” Alexei Fursin said.

He added that the City Government provides consultations to small and medium-sized businesses. There are 16 multi-purpose centers specifically for entrepreneurs. There are also entrepreneurship training courses. Start-Up School offers five-day intensive workshops for entrepreneurs. Some 4.7K people have completed the course since 2017.
