The export of cars from China to Russia in the first half of the year increased 2.3 times and reached a record $6.24 billion, this follows from the data of Chinese customs and Interfax calculations.
Compared to the same period last year, deliveries increased by 134.6%, or about $3.58 billion. The new result was even higher than the first half of the record 2024, when China delivered cars worth $6.22 billion to Russia.
In June alone, shipments amounted to $1.24 billion, that was the second result since the beginning of the year after May. According to Avtostat, about 28.2 thousand new cars were imported from China in a month – more than 71% of all Russian imports of new cars.
The rapid growth is mainly due to the low base effect. At the beginning of last year, supplies were at multi-year lows after a sharp increase in disposal fee in the fall of 2024 and its subsequent indexation.
