The Russian government has extended restrictions on exports of gasoline, diesel fuel, marine fuel, and gasoil, with the new measures set to run from August 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027, according to the government’s official website.
The gasoline export ban applies to producers as well and will remain in force for the entire six-month period. For diesel fuel, marine fuel, and gasoil, restrictions on producers will be lifted on September 1, while traders will remain subject to the ban until the end of January.
The measure is intended to boost domestic supply following shortages and price hikes triggered by attacks on Russian refineries. Authorities have also introduced separate regulations governing fuel deliveries to agricultural producers and government agencies.
Analysts note that Russia was the world’s second-largest exporter of diesel fuel after the United States, meaning the restrictions are also likely to ripple through global markets.
