Russia’s diplomacy focused on creating a safe and favorable environment

Russian Foreign Ministry released a summary of the country’s main 2018 foreign policy results.

Among other matters, such as development of the Eurasian Economic Union, broader ties with the CIS, BRICS, ASEAN, and CSTO countries, and Russia’s efforts in the UN Security Council, the document specifically noted deepening of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation with China, which “Remained one of the important factors of socio-economic development of the two countries. Foreign policy coordination with Beijing, including in the UN, BRICS and the SCO, exerted stabilizing influence on world politics. Trade between the two countries exceeded $100 bln for the first time. The Yamal LNG Plant launched regular energy supplies to China; the sides signed a package of inter-government and inter-corporate documents on building additional energy units at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and the new, Xudapu Nuclear Power Plant; and the bulk of work on the Power of Siberia gas pipeline from Russia to China has been completed. Our joint projects in aviation and outer space have reached a high level of completion.”
