Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq Mohamed Ali Alhakim, web page of the ministry reported.
At a media conference following the talks, Sergey Lavrov pointed out, “We are extremely interested in expanding our trade, economic and investment ties. We are posting very good results in investment, primarily the hydrocarbons sector. Lukoil, Gazpromneft and Soyuzneftegaz are already operating in Iraq, and Rosneft is interested in implementing projects there. This sector has already received investment worth over $10 bln.”
“We also want to expand projects in power industry, agriculture, manufacturing and transport. All of this will be reviewed in the context of preparations for another meeting of the Russian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation. I would like to thank the Iraqi leaders for their invariably attentive attitude towards the work of Russian companies in their country,” Ministed Lavrov concluded.
