Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov visited the industrial facility at the Onezhsky Tractor Plant where the Amkodor-Onego investment project to manufacture cutting edge forestry equipment has been launched.
One of the largest Belarusian machine-building enterprises, Amkodor, plans to build a plant in Karelia to manufacture forestry and logging equipment, namely lightweight and medium-sized harvesters and forwarders, as well as their components. The new facility will be located at the Onezhsky Tractor Plant and will create over 500 jobs. The estimated cost of the project is RUR 18 bln ($276 mio).
The project also includes the manufacturing of components, including bogie axes, manipulators, harvester heads, as well as the management of a service center. Components will be used both for in-house manufacturing and for leading global producers of road, construction and logging machinery. Amkodor’s equipment will cost less than those by famous producers such as Ponsee and John Deer. The equipment will be sold to Russian, CIS and EU customers.
Amkodor Chairman of the Board Alexander Shakutin said that 100% of components and mechanisms will be manufactured at Russian and Belarusian plants.
“I am sure that Amkodor-Onego will become Russia’s best plant manufacturing forestry equipment. Our holding’s philosophy is to use machine-building equipment from the world’s best manufacturers.”
