The Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A (Candid) multi-purpose four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter manufactured at the Aviastar-SP plant in Ulyanovsk has been delivered to the customer, the Russian Defense Ministry. In 2019, the aircraft company plans to manufacture and deliver six Il-76MD-90A aircraft.
According to Aviastar-SP Chief Technology Officer Sergei Platonov, in June the plant will launch an assembly line with 10 stations and 27 units of high-precision equipment. It will increase the plant’s capacity to 18 planes per year with a two-shift operation. The plant has already purchased and installed over 100 units of high-precision, high-capacity equipment.
The Il-76MD-90A airlifter is able to carry a payload of 60 tons over a range of up to 4,000 km.
