The Elshanskaya solar power station has been launched in the Orenburg Region in the Urals.
The innovative facility is based on Russian-made heterojunction solar cells supplied by the Hevel plant in Novocheboksarsk (Hevel Group is a company founded by energy tycoons Anatoly Chubais and Viktor Vekselberg). Its solar cells’ efficiency is close to 25%. Other components for the power plant – inverter equipment, support structures and others – are also produced in Russia. Its capacity is 25 MW, which is a level of medium and high capacity hydroelectric power plants.
“The Orenburg Region is a leader in the solar power segment with ten such facilities operating there, which will ensure good savings to the region in the long term,” said Dmitry Aleksandrov, a commodity market analyst.
