Aeroflot wins two Innovation Time awards

The Russian flag carrier scooped the “Transport and Engineering” category for the rollout of its “Digital Aeroflot” transformation plan, and also won the “Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering” category for its international prize-winning “Aeroflot. Sulimov Dogs” project.

Celebrating achievements in the field of innovation, the Innovation Time award ceremony was held on 7 December in Sochi. Aeroflot is the first nominee to take two categories at the prestigious awards.

Aeroflot ranked as the fourth most digital airline worldwide for the second year in a row, and remains Russia’s largest online retailer. Aeroflot was the first airline in Russia to launch on-board wifi, and prioritises the use of a mobile app for staff and customers. Aeroflot also deploys a custom-made information and analytical system for management (“Manager’s Monitor”) and is actively developing Big Data projects.

Aeroflot’s Sulimov dogs are a unique hybrid breed with an enhanced sense of smell, and are used to search for explosive devices with a high degree of accuracy. 24-hour monitoring using the dogs increases security for passengers, aircraft and airport infrastructure.

The Innovation Time awards were inaugurated by the Social Projects and Programs foundation. The panel of judges consists of scientists and innovation experts, social activists, and representatives of business and government.
