AmCham and Russian Direct Investment Fund conclude a cooperation agreement

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) have agreed to jointly identify attractive investment projects to strengthen bilateral economic ties and increase mutual investment between Russia and the United States, official web page reported.

RDIF and AmCham also plan to hold joint events to facilitate dialogue between the business communities of Russia and the United States. The agreement was concluded on February, 14, alongside the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

“At present, Russia – U.S. relations are at a low point, and we believe business can help to restore dialogue between countries. Business sets a confident agenda and provides an opportunity to focus on the positive aspects of relationships. We invite American companies to take part in joint projects and hope that this dialogue will open up new opportunities for cooperation,” Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), noted.

Alexis Rodzianko, President and CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, said: “The results of our research demonstrate that accumulated direct investment of US companies in Russia exceeds 80 billion USD. Our members – US companies – continue to invest in Russia and to successfully develop their business here. However, the trade and economic relations between the two countries are far short of their potential because of the geopolitical situation. We are pleased to cooperate with RDIF and will work together to fulfill this potential.”
