Azerbaijan enjoys favorable conditions for the development of its agriculture, such as fertile land and climate. In the agriculture of Azerbaijan, plant growing (61%) prevails over cattle breeding (39%).
In the first half of 2019, the total agricultural production in the country increased by 13% compared to the same period last year, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Over the first six months of this year, production of potatoes increased by 10.3%, cereals by 40.7%, vegetables by 13.8%, fruits and berries by 21.1%, melon crops by 37.5%.
In the first half of 2019, agricultural products worth $411.8 mio were exported (increase of 27.9% against first half of 2018).
Compared to the same period last year, fruit exports grew by 42.2%.
