Bashkortostan to build construction materials producing plant

Founders of the company SibayPlitProm and Acting Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rady Khabirov have signed an investment agreement on building a local plant to manufacture oriented strand board (OSB).

OSB is formed by compressing numerous layers of wood strands in specific orientations; it is environmentally friendly and inexpensive, and can be used as finishing or construction material. In Russia, it is commonly used for wall siding.

The plant will use low-grade wood in the amount of about one million cubic meters per year. The facility’s annual production capacity is expected at 578,000 cubic meters. The investments in the project will amount to over RUR 21 bln ($328.4 mio).
