BTK to shape regional logistics hub

The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway is making the countries of the region an important Eurasian transport and logistics center, Javid Gurbanov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways, noted at a meeting with a Georgian delegation led by Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, Trend new agency reports.

At the meeting, cooperation between the railways of the two countries, the transport and logistics capabilities of Azerbaijan, and reforms in the national railway were discussed. Javid Gurbanov described the BTK railway corridor, the North-South and South-West transport routes, and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), emphasizing that promoting international corridors aims to increase the transit potential of the participating countries.

The launch of BTK in October 2017 was a historic event, Natia Turnava noted. Now the goods from China and Central Asian countries are transported to Turkey and vice verse, along this route through Azerbaijan and Georgia.
