Building greenhouses on permafrost

The third stage of the project to build a greenhouse complex in Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), will be financed as part of an agreement between Russia’s VEB.RF and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on the joint financing of projects with the participation of Japan.

The Sayuri greenhouse complex is the world’s only year-round greenhouse complex built on permafrost with the use of a Japanese technology. The first experimental stage of the project, covering an area of 0.1 ha, was launched in December 2016. The project is being implemented with the support of the Japanese Project Promotion Vehicle in the Far East (JPPV), which was founded by the Far East Investment and Export Agency, the Far East Development Fund and JBIC.
