NR Investments, associated with Nathaniel Rothschild, has gained control over Chisinau International Airport. The press service of Moldova’s main airport said that Rothschild is now the owner of Avia Invest, with which the Moldovan Agency of Public Property signed a concession agreement in 2013. The concessionaire pledged to manage the airport for 49 years. NR Investments Ltd purchased 95% in Avia Invest.
Some Moldovan MPs earlier requested the country’s Prosecutor’s Office to open a criminal case due to violations related to giving the airport in concession. Moldovan President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Maia Sandu and some other government officials spoke in favor of returning the airport to the state.
