Daily public procurement in Russia estimated at $3 mio

The volume of daily public procurement in Russia conducted through the unified procurement information system is estimated at RUR 220 mio ($3.3 mio), Deputy Head of the Federal Treasury Anna Katamadze said at the expert discussion, The World of Procurement: Reset, at the Gaidar Forum at RANEPA on Thursday, January 17.

“The volume of public procurement transactions in the unified procurement information system has increased significantly. Previously, daily purchases totaled RUR 140 mio ($2.1 mio); now they have reached RUR 220 mio ($3.3 mio). This growth is due to the new functionality of the unified information system. In particular, it is now possible to conclude electronic contracts. Previously, this could only be done on an electronic platform,” the expert noted.

According to her, the unified procurement information system today is used by 3 mio active customers making purchases regulated by the federal laws 44-FZ or 223-FZ.

“Furthermore, the unified information system now also supports purchases for major repairs of residential buildings. Now the public can control these projects as well,” the expert said.

She added that the main goal today is to increase the transparency of procurement and to continue the automation of the procurement process. This work is already underway.
