Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched the full-scale development of the Kharasaveyskoye gas field via a videoconference.
The project is being implemented by the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom. The new field will give a boost to the development of the major Yamal gas production and processing center which will become Russia’s largest and, according to experts, will have a paramount importance for the development of the gas industry in the 21st century.
As soon as this year, the roads and sites for production facilities will be built. In the summer 2020, first wells are planned to be drilled. Gas production will begin in 2023. Only Russian-made equipment will be used in the development of the Kharasaveyskoye gas field. The launch ceremony was attended by Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area Dmitry Arthyukhov.
“Analysts have long predicted that the Yamal gas production center would become Russia’s largest, and this project is gradually being realized,” economist Dmitry Afanasyev said.
