Dynea to launch new facility in Russia’s Perm Territory

Russia’s chemical company Metafrax and Norway’s Dynea AS have signed a contract to build a facility to produce 55% formalin in the city of Gubakha. The project is part of the special investment contract with the Perm Territory.

The facility will be integrated in the large complex producing paraformaldehyde using the technology of the GEA Concern. The annual production capacity will reach 180,000 tons of 55% formalin and 30,000 tons of paraformaldehyde. The project’s total cost is over RUR 5.2 bln ($81 mio); it will be completed before the end of 2021.

“The facility will be launched in the third quarter of 2021,” Metafrax General Director Vladimir Daut said. “Formalin produced at the new facility will be used for making paraformaldehyde. It is important that Metafrax will be Russia’s only facility producing paraformaldehyde.” After the launch of the facility, the total capacity of the Gubakha plant will reach 450,000 tons of 55% formalin per year. The new facility will create over 40 jobs.
