RIA Novosti experts have conducted a study to identify the regions that offer the biggest proportion of high salaries. Surprisingly enough, Moscow is third on the ranking, while the Chukotka Autonomous Area took first place.
As many as 32% of Chukotka residents have monthly salaries exceeding RUR 100K ($1.5K); the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area is second with 31% of the population. But the number of Muscovites with a salary higher than RUR 100K is slightly less – 27.4%.
The lowest incomes were found in Kabardino-Balkaria: only 0.7% of the population make more than RUR 100K there. The Oryol Region and Dagestan are two more regions offering very few high-paying jobs, 0.9%.
