Federal Air Transport Agency comments on where Russians will be able to fly

It is about time to start resuming international flights from Russia, according to a proposal made to the Government by Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko.

It is expected that flight connections with CIS countries will resume first while flights further abroad will be resuming based on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in individual countries.

The Government commented that the Foreign Ministry, the Federal Air Transport Agency and the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection will discuss the possibility of re-opening international flights. The decision to launch flights will also depend on agreements with other countries, Kommersant reports.

Meanwhile, experts note that resuming flight connection with the CIS countries will not significantly affect the fleet’s workload. Biggest profits would come from flights to and from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan due to a large migration flow from these countries. However, experts add that lifting any of the current restrictions would have a positive effect on the aviation industry.
