The popularity of fitness clubs in Russia saw significant growth in the third quarter of 2025. Sales of memberships rose by an average of 16.6%, while club attendance increased by 13.4% compared to the same period in 2024, Yelena Silina, head of the National Fitness Community, told the newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

David Kazaryan, CEO of Bioniq Russia and CIS, notes that this revenue growth is not an isolated surge but part of a global trend toward greater interest in healthy living, rehabilitation, and preventive care.
“However, the traditional fitness model has reached its limit,” Kazaryan states. “To improve margins and ensure long-term sustainability, the industry must evolve into wellness hubs – spaces that integrate exercise with rehabilitation, nutrition, diagnostics, and comprehensive health management. We see many examples of this abroad, particularly in the premium segment with brands like EQUINOX and Remedy Place.”
He believes modern consumers are seeking more than just a workout; they want a holistic experience of conscious well-being. They aim to use their time effectively, recharge their energy, and socialize, all without compromising their overall productivity. The wellness hub model meets these needs by creating an environment where clients feel part of a community, maintain their physical fitness, and support their mental balance and quality of life.
“This product differentiation creates new opportunities for the industry,” Kazaryan concludes. “It drives growth in LTV, GMV, and EBITDA by increasing customer value, rather than merely expanding the customer base. The future of fitness lies in integrating science, technology, and human experience, where health becomes a new form of pleasure and an investment in lasting vitality.”
