FM: Russian companies are actively involved in large-scale and long-term projects in Cuba

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla had talks in Moscow followed by a joint news conference, website of the ministry reported.

As Lavrov noted at the conference, “We have analyzed opportunities for expanding our economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties. This is being actively facilitated by the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation as well as the regular meetings of its co-chairs. The said mechanism demonstrates its effectiveness and helps a multifaceted and uninterrupted development of our ties in the material sphere.”

“In the context of national development objectives that our Cuban friends have set forth for themselves, Russian companies are actively involved in implementing large-scale and long-term projects in the energy industry, iron-and-steel industry, light industry, and agriculture; they also supply motor vehicles and railway equipment. We have positive plans for the future in all these fields, as well as in healthcare, biopharmaceuticals, information and communications technologies, atoms for peace, and cooperation on peaceful space exploration,” he said.
