Construction of a giant oil tanker has been launched at the Zvezda Shipyard in the Primorye Territory.
The vessel will have a deadweight of 114K tons (deadweight includes the total mass of effective load that the ship can take on, and ship stores such as fuel, fresh water, lubricants, other service fluids, etc.).
The tanker under construction is of the Aframax class that usually operates within the waters of one sea. Its characteristics include a speed of up to 15 knots and a breadth of up to 32 m.
The construction began with cutting metal. It is the fifth tanker to be built at the Zvezda Shipyard. Aframax tankers will be the first vessels of this type to be laid down and built in Russia.
