Government to allocate $20 mio to create vaccines

Meeting of the presidium of the Government Coordination Council to control the incidence of the novel coronavirus infection in Russia, chaired by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, took place on Wednesday, government website reports.

Mishustin noted “Allocation of RUR 1.4 bln ($20 mio) to the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare from the government’s Reserve Fund to be used first of all to promote the efforts to create vaccines, as well as to test and select the most effective medicines, both existing ones and those that are being created.”

As Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said, “In Russia today, we have 658 patients in 55 regions. As many as 29 people have recovered, and 112K are under supervision and in self-isolation.”

“It was decided to suspend operations of all nightclubs, discos and similar facilities, cinemas, theatres, children’s playrooms and entertainment centers, as well as other entertainment and leisure facilities, to introduce a ban on smoking hookahs in restaurants, bars, cafes and other similar facilities, to temporarily cease sending people to health resorts,” she pointed out.
