Green Soderberg technology introduced at RUSAL’s Krasnoyarsk smelter

The Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Smelter (KrAZ) has completed the second stage of the project to adjust production to the updated environmental standards.

The main production facility that uses the self-baking anode (Soderberg anode) technology has been converted to Green Soderberg technology.

The project is aimed to improve the degassing system and make the composition of the anode mass more environmentally friendly.

The project was completed with the launch of 1,954 new-generation reduction cells.

The introduction of new environmental standards is quite expensive: some $74 mio has been invested in the project. The technology was developed by RUSAL experts.
