Half of Russians are worried about their future, poll says

Almost 57%  of Russian residents positively assess the current situation in the country, while 35% think just the opposite, according to a recent survey conducted by Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) among 1,600 respondents aged over 18.

The survey revealed that 50% of Russians are overall satisfied with their lives. 25% said they are partially satisfied, while 22% reported dissatisfaction. 41% of those polled said they believe their lives will not improve within a year; 25% hope for a better tomorrow, and 23% expert the situation to get worse.

Only 26% of the respondents are confident in the future, while 23% are ambivalent and nearly half (48%) are concerned and fearful about their future, the poll said.
