Hidden mining gains popularity

Hackers have conducted 13 million hidden mining-related attacks, according to a research by Kaspersky Lab.

The number of hacker attacks related to crypto mining has increased four times in 2018. A total of 13 million attacks took place this year while only 3.5 million attacks happened in 2017, according to RBC. Kaspersky Lab experts found that hacking is particularly prolific in the Middle East and Africa.

Last summer, the experts reported that there were 14,000 new malicious hidden mining programs in the market. The programs mine crypto currencies via devices without their users’ consent. A total of 13 million devices were affected by hidden mining in 2018.
