Hong Kong drones for Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is making efforts to improve product quality and labor efficiency by applying high technologies in the agriculture industry, Azernews portal reports.

This summer the country will start using Hong Kong-made drones to determine the state of agricultural lands. According to Toghrul Gafarbayli, head of the protocol at the Ministry of Agriculture, the ministry has purchased one drone so far, but the number of such drones will reach 10-15 in the near future.

“The drones will be handed over to the Plant Production Institute under the Agriculture Ministry, and upon the request of the farmers, the specialists will go to the site and conduct the necessary research,” he said.

Drones will conduct surveys in hard-to-reach areas of agricultural land to determine irrigation performance, soil condition, and identify weed plants.

Gafarbayli also noted that procurement of such drones requires a permission from the State Security Service, the Ministry of Defense, and the State Border Service.
