KAMAZ and Weichai to localize manufacturing of industrial engines

A joint enterprise of Russia’s KAMAZ and Chinese Weichai Corporation to manufacture industrial diesel and gas engines with a capacity of 520kW-2000kW will be created at the Tutaev Motor Plant. The implementation of the agreement will attract over RUR 760 mio ($12 mio) in investment in the next two years and create about 50 new jobs. When the plant reaches its full capacity, the number of jobs will be increased to 160. Serial production is expected to begin in the middle of 2020.

The Chinese party praised the favorable investment climate of the Yaroslavl Region, which was a crucial factor for choosing the site for the new facility.

Weichai Power Co., Ltd is a global leader in research, development, manufacturing and sale of diesel and gas engines for commercial vehicles, generators, and sea and river vessels. KAMAZ is Russia’s largest automobile corporation; it ranks among the top-20 global manufacturers of heavy trucks.
