LEDVANCE invests RUR 200 mio in Smolensk plant

LEDVANCE completed a one-year investment project at a lighting equipment plant in Smolensk. The total amount of investment exceeded RUR 200 mio ($3 mio)

Thanks to upgraded equipment, the plant optimized its production costs, diversified the product line, increased the sales market and also expanded the amount of products both for domestic sales and exports. The Smolensk plant exports its products to Germany (45%), the UAE (18%), Argentina (3%), Bulgaria (1%), Brazil (3%), Belarus (4%), Czech Republic (1%), France (5%), Croatia (2%), Kazakhstan (4%), Mexico (3%), Ukraine (6%) and South Africa (5%).

LEDVANCE Russia was founded in 2003 based at the Svet company. In 2018 the LEDVANCE facilities in Augsburg and Berlin (Germany) were closed due to losses. As a result, the plant in Smolensk became the only plant in Europe producing conventional sources of light. Currently, the facility employing around 400 people produces around 75 mio luminescent lamps.
