Personnel at the Russian military base in Abkhazia and the republic’s Armed Forces were alerted as part of a military exercise involving combat firing.
The exercise is being held together with the units of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Abkhazia as part of the combined forces combat training. After the alert siren was activated, the military personnel and equipment were moved to certain districts.
In all, the exercise involves some 3,000 soldiers and over 400 units of military equipment, including Mi-8AMTSh (Terminator) armor assault helicopters and Ka-2 helicopters that were deployed to the base in Abkhazia specifically for the exercise.
