More Russians choose mobile apps for money transfers

41% of money transfers in Russia are made via smartphones, a research by the Russian fintech company Yandex.Money revealed.

Last year, the amount of money transferred via the Yandex.Money online payment service grew by 37%, RBC business daily reported.

The average transfer amount was about RUR 4,000 ($59) for mobile users, while the average sum transferred via PCs was RUR 3,453.

Many Russians made international money transfers, with most popular destinations being Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Last year saw an increased amount of money transferred from Russia to Central Asian countries, particularly, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.  

According to Russia’s Central Bank, a total of RUR 105 bln ($1.6 bln)  was transferred from Russia abroad last year.
