Mortgage borrowers in Russia become younger

Russians using mortgage to buy housing are younger now – a survey showed a decrease in the average age of a mortgage borrower.

In 2019, the average age of Russian citizens using a mortgage to buy an apartment was 36, MIEL real estate group told TASS. Two years ago, the average borrower age was a little over 38, and in 2015, 40.

The press office of the Moscow Credit Bank reported that the youngest person they approved a mortgage to in 2019 was 18 years old. People under 30 account for about 30% of borrowers the bank approves mortgages to.
