During the all-city quarantine, Moscow drivers will only be able to drive to nearest grocery stores. Trips to other neighborhoods will be allowed only if absolutely necessary, according to the Emergency Response Center.

Traffic police will have the authority to stop any car and ask the driver about the purpose of his or her trip. Car drivers must carry an ID and will be allowed to only drive to a nearby grocery store, Gazeta.Ru reports.

Meanwhile, Moscow city officials decided against introducing special permits for movement of cars in the city. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that the first shutdown week demonstrated that there is no need for special permits as the majority of Muscovites self-isolated voluntarily. However, if the epidemic gets bigger, Sobyanin did not rule out that permits may still be necessary.
