In 2021, venture capitalists invested almost $2 bln in NFT projects, on the non-fungible tokens market.
Compared to last year, financing for such projects surged by more than 6,500%. Investment in this sector peaked in the third quarter, when investors channeled about $1.3 bln towards it.
Almost half of that amount went to European players. The biggest deal on that market was worth $22 mio, an increment of 450% year-on-year.
Investments in the NFT segment, among other factors, are driving the global blockchain market growth. As Invest Foresight wrote earlier, by the end of September 2021, the blockchain market received $15 bln from investors, or 384% more than for the entire last year (according to CB Insights).
The market is seeing a powerful investment boom, after total investment in the industry barely exceeded $3 bln in January-December 2020.
The US and Asian markets are contributing to the growth as well. Over the past quarter, these regions attracted investments in the amount of $4.3 bln. On the American market alone, investment climbed by more than 1,000%.
