“Current economic realities set the task of intensifying work on promotion of innovative technology developments. One tool for this is the Umnik program of the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation (FSI). This program allows you to attract initial funds for young scientists in dire need of financing of own inventions,” said the deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Andrei Sanosyan.

According to the Minister of Industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Maxim Cherkasov, the Smart Man competition is the first stage of the introduction of Nizhny Novgorod developments on the market.

“Thanks to participation in the Umnik program, developers get one-time grant in the amount of 500 thousand rubles, which can be spent on improving their inventions – for example, collecting a working sample, which was done by Michael Pochepsky. His invention, consisting of a ventilator and a power supply unit, can be applied both in the medical sector and in industrial enterprises where there are extreme operating conditions under low temperature,” the minister explained.

According to the author of the invention, this is the only model in the market that maintains the inhaled air temperature always on the same level, regardless of the external temperature.

“So far, functionality has been implemented that allows the user to support  constant comfortable room temperature in cold conditions. That is, working in the cold, a person will be deprived of a sense of cold. In fact, this is the world’s first thermal electric mask,” Michael Pochepsky explained.

Regional Representative of the FSI in Nizhny Novgorod Timur Radaev told that a number of domestic companies are already showing interest in promising know how to facilitate work of staff in freezing conditions, as well as some clothing brands.

“In total, in 2021, as part of the final of the Umnik contest, which was held on the basis of high-tech technology park Ankudinovka, which is regional representation of the FSI in Nizhny Novgorod region, 14 projects were supported for a total of 7 million rubles. At the moment, all projects are developing, we hold communication with entrepreneurs, and for those who plan to expand production, we provide advice on state support measures,” he explained.
