Number of car sharing users in Moscow reaches 1 million

Car sharing service is for now growing only in the biggest Russian cities with a population of over 1 million. It will eventually come to smaller cities, according to YouDrive founder Andrei Kuprikov who spoke at the Autonet forum.

He added that car sharing is already available in several towns in the Moscow Region.

“The car sharing market in Moscow is growing at a tremendous rate. In 2015 there were only 350 shared cars in the city used by 35,000 Muscovites. In 2018, there are 10,000 cars used by one million drivers,” Andrei Kuprikov said.

There are good prerequisites for the development of car sharing in Russia, including long distances and adverse weather conditions.

“A car makes life much more comfortable. Car prices are increasing but car sharing allows you to save money. It is one of the most economical modes of transport,” YouDrive founder stressed.

Andrei Kuprikov added that in the future car sharing will allow reducing the number of cars that cost up to RUR 2 mio ($30K) in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
