Olam International implements major investment program in Russia’s Penza Region

The construction of a dairy complex by Rusmolco (an affiliate of the major food holding Olam International) is underway in the Penza Region as part of an investment program worth RUR 4.5 bln ($66 mio). This is the largest and most advanced dairy farm project in Russia and one of the largest in Europe, the regional government’s website says.

As of today, the first part of the complex has opened; it has 5.2K head of cattle and the daily milk production of some 40 tons. The facility employs 197 people.

By 2021, the number of cows will be increased to 7.2K and later to 16K, while milk production will reach 250 tons of milk per day. Over 350 additional jobs will be created.

According to Penza Region Governor Ivan Belozertsev, “Rusmolco’s total investment in the regional economy has exceeded RUR 16 bln ($235 mio) in the past five years. The company’s enterprises employ over 1.3K people. This is a major investor, and it has good development prospects.”
