Pandemic to hit global GDP

In 2020 and 2021, global GDP will lose $9 tln, said Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund Gita Gopinath.

According to the expert, the global economy was expected to grow by 3.3% this year. However, the pandemic has changed the economic landscape and now experts forecast a 3.3% downturn, Vedomosti daily writes.

This means that the negative impact of the pandemic will be bigger that the one of the 2009 crisis, when global GDP lost only 0.1%.
