The Perm Territory’s government plans to hire a new employee – a robotic officer capable of communicating with people, helping them find the necessary office and issuing temporary passes for visitors.
The robot will serve as a concierge at the regional administration, and an auction for its development has already been announced on the public procurement portal. The robot is expected to serve visitors within two minutes – twice as fast as human employees. Today, more than 150 people annually come to the local administration for consultancy. At the end of the day, the robot will submit a report to the attendant about how many people have not left the building. The robot will cost RUR 2.365 mio ($37,000); bids from developers are accepted until May 30.
This is not the first robot used in the region’s state institutions as a consultant. The Helper robot prototype has served at one of the regional multifunctional centers since the end of November. Similar robotic consultants are employed at the multifunctional centers in Yakutia and have proved quite effective in that region, having reduced the burden on the civil servants.
