Professor Evstafiev: We still have a chance for a space breakthrough

The Space Age is not over. Humans should continue implementing large space projects related to returning to the Moon and flying to Mars, said Dmitry Evstafiev, Professor at the Communications, Media, and Design Department/School of Integrated Communications at the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

“We should love space. The dreams of space exploration rather than the desire for immediate profits can help us achieve success in this area. Space is not about the money, neither are manned space missions,” the expert said.

According to Evstafiev, the Russian space sector has been exhausted in the past few years.

“We used to have a great potential there. But we still have a chance for a breakthrough. We need people who want to make discoveries, who have dreams,” Evstafiev believes.

He added that Elon Musk is one of those people.

“Elon Musk is trying to fulfil his dream and he is brave enough to launch a series of very ambitious projects,” the expert emphasized.

According to Evstafiev, large projects in space exploration can be related to returning to the Moon and organizing a manned mission to Mars.

“All projects related to deep space exploration are huge. It would be something amazing if we dare to implement them,” Evstafiev said.
