The newest Russian weapons will not only protect our country from aggression, but also reliably and absolutely ensure Russia’s security for decades ahead, President Vladimir Putin said during the final Defense Ministry Board meeting, Interfax reports.

The President stressed that without exaggeration, the new weapons will multiply the potential of our army and navy. These weapons are consolidating the balance of forces and, thus, international stability.

“I hope our new systems will provide food for thought to those who are used to militaristic and aggressive rhetoric,” Putin said.

He cited several examples of Russia’s most advanced weapons, including the Sarmat ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile), the Avangard missile system, which has gone into serial production, the Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile, and the Peresvet combat laser weapon. As Invest Foresight earlier reported, even US Congress recognized the power of the Russian hypersonic weapons.

The president also spoke about strengthening Russia’s nuclear triad; the current share of modern arms in the triad is over 80 percent. The triad is comprised of strategic aviation, intercontinental ballistic missiles and nuclear submarines. These carriers can deliver a nuclear warhead to its destination anywhere in the world. Putin also mentioned such topics as digital technology and UAVs, which are broadly discussed today. According to him, they should be a priority of the Armed Forces.

“I would stress that digital technologies and artificial intelligence, robotization, and unmanned systems – all this should be on the qualitative development agenda of our Armed Forces,” the President of Russia said.
