A new steel melting electric arc furnace has started operating at the VKM-Steel foundry in the Republic of Mordovia.
The facility has been launched as part of the first stage of production modernization. The alternating current furnace with the 16-ton capacity will increase manufacturing of railroad car sets by 1,000 units per month.
The furnace, manufactured by the Italian company Thermomelt, will be used along with the Slovenian-made shot-blasting chamber.
