Unmanned snowplows have set out on Russian roads. The experiment is being conducted in the Ryazan Region and will be continued in Moscow and Tatarstan.
An unmanned snowplow is a small tractor equipped with detachable implements and beam deflectors. Snow clearing robots will operate at night. They will operate on city streets during light snowfall. Signs will be installed within 50 meters of their area of operation.
Vehicles have already undergone trials in a closed area. A dispatcher will be able to monitor their movements from a distance. Robots were manufactured by a Ryazan company, RIA Novosti reports.
Scientists claim that in the near future, robots will help to increase snow cleaners’ efficiency by 35%. Unmanned snowplows will be able to operate for longer hours than manned vehicles.
