Rostec State Corporation engineers are developing non-lethal weapons to be installed on drones and robots. The new weapons will use powerful sound waves and tear gas.

The development of new kinds of non-lethal weapons is being conducted at several enterprises of the state corporation. The project’s headquarters is the Research Institute of Applied Chemistry, which is holding main research, TASS news agency reports. Experts are developing combined munitions that can stun and disable their targets with flash blindness. Robots will be fitted with systems firing munitions of various calibers, which is expected to improve the accuracy of the weapons. In addition, such multifunctional weapons systems can hit many targets at the same time.

Rostec earlier said that it was developing equipment for optical jamming to be used against terrorists. This weapons system will be delivered to the special task forces to counteract militants. The production of the first such system is scheduled for 2019.
