Russia adopts preventive measures against coronavirus

Some 20K people in Russia are currently under medical observation as a precaution against the coronavirus, said Head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) Anna Popova.

She said that in Russia, 20K people are being monitored due to possible exposure to the coronavirus; 6K of them are Chinese nationals. Anna Popova added that Russia has begun a mandatory two-week quarantine for Chinese citizens arriving in Russia.

In all, 769 people have been admitted to hospital since December 31 after showing possible symptoms of the virus. However, 97 of them were diagnosed with flu and 121 had respiratory diseases caused by non-influenza viruses, TASS news agency reports.
