Recently, Denis Manturov, Russian Industry and Trade Minister, officially announced that Russia started producing S-400 air defense systems for India that has been experiencing social disbalance within the country for the past few months.
As Manturov mentioned, “Almaz-Antey has begun manufacturing the S-400 systems for India, and Russia will deliver the S-400s to India within the timeframe stipulated by the contract. In general, all commitments undertaken by the parties, including the payment, are being fulfilled in full.”
The purchase of S-400 systems amounted for $5.43 bln, the agreement between the countries was made during the 19th India-Russia Annual Bilateral Summit in New Delhi on October 5, 2018. Among the points discussed were mainly issues connected with the long-term security needs.
It was also stated, there is a training center being constructed for S-400 operations in India. According to Moscow diplomat Roman Babushkin, the air defense systems will be delivered to India by 2025. As he commented, “We will supply five S-400 regiments defense system to India by 2025. Russia is possessing one of the world’s best defense systems and it would serve well for Indian security.”
Former Indian Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa is convinced that the new air defense systems from Russia will be a “game-changer”.
