
Rosatom state corporation plans to launch three Lider icebreakers before 2033, according to the plan of the Northern Sea Route infrastructure development until 2035, approved by the Russian government.
The new icebreakers will be built at the Zvezda Shipyard in the Far East. In addition, the Baltic Shipyard in St Petersburg is currently building the icebreakers Arktika, Sibir and Ural.
Arktika, the first vessel of the series, was put to performance tests on December 12.
