Russia builds world’s most powerful nuclear icebreaker

Russia is building the world’s highest-capacity nuclear-powered icebreaker. Rossiya is currently under construction at a shipbuilding yard in the Far East.

The construction project began at the Zvezda dockyard in Russia’s Far East. The first metal cutting for the ultrapowerful nuclear icebreaker is already complete.

Experts note that this is an unprecedented project and the nuclear icebreaker will have unique technical parameters. Its length will be 209 m and width 47.7 m. The vessel may be finished as soon as 2027.
